About the event
Since ancient times, wine has been an integral part of the civilizations of the Middle East and Europe. Historians and archaeologists are certain that the Armenian Highland is truly the cradle of wine, and evidence of this are the oldest traces of winemaking that are known to us and trace back to 6,100 years. This is even stated in the Bible, according to which Noah planted the first grapevine as soon as he came down to the foot of Mount Ararat and made the first wine in the world. Science and religion share this view, and so do we, and we are certain that Armenia has great potential to become one of the pioneers in the production and export of unique and high-quality wine in the world today, and to host wine lovers from different corners of the globe. This is exactly the reason why the Yerevan Wine Days festival was created and brought together the two major sectors — winemaking and tourism — on one platform.
Yerevan Wine Days is a unique meeting place for wine lovers and winemakers. Every year, several streets in central Yerevan are filled with warmth, positive emotions, music, surrounded by lights and the laughter of people who are a tad drunk. During those days, the locals and tourists have the opportunity to taste the wines of a dozen Armenian companies made from local grapes and not only local grapes, and combine them with tasty food. Yerevan Wine Days is an exceptional celebration for not only citizens of Yerevan, but also foreign guests. We attach great importance to the long-term growth of tourism in Armenia. It is no secret that tourism, as a separate branch of economy, can help create additional jobs, promote road construction, the hotel and restaurant industry, contribute to the development of crafts and national culture and eventually make Armenia and everything Armenian recognizable in all parts of the world.
All tourists in Armenia who are introduced to the taste of Armenian wine, the product’s appearance and the history of Armenian wine through the wine festival, will never forget the taste after the first try and, whether they want to or not, they seek Armenian wines in their respective countries, help create demand, talk about and serve as living advertisers of the wine that stroke their palates and became imprinted in their memories for all time. For the past several years, wine suppliers have been arriving in Armenia from around the world during Yerevan Wine Days, and, for them, this festival is a unique expo where it is possible to have a comprehensive picture of wine production in Armenia and Armenian wines thanks to the large variety.
As a result, viewing this great potential of the wine festival and the demands and challenges of the modern business world as an opportunity, we can increase exports of Armenian wines and wines of Artsakh and be represented on international platforms with the high-quality production of Armenian wines, the skills of Armenian winemakers and the diversity of endemic types of local grapes.
We are certain that together we can create a strong economy and can turn Armenia into one of the most favorite destinations for wine lovers of the world, and we can do all this around a cup of genuine Armenian wine in the heart of Yerevan.
